Happy New Year! We hope everyone had fun this holiday season, and still got to celebrate together some way safe despite the virus. We got a little bit of a break here at the studio to enjoy the holidays too. We were also able to reflect back on this unusual and unprecedented year. As difficult as things have been with shut downs, restrictions, and unknowns we are truly grateful and thankful to all of you that have kept our small business going and staying afloat. We can’t do this without all of you, so again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support. We are extremely appreciative to capture your families, children, and special moments, and we hope to continue to have that opportunity. We hope this year is better than last and wish all of you a great year.

We are loving are end of the season and fall photoshoots! The weather has been decent and the locations have been beautiful. Looking to have a photoshoot or have one planned for your little ones? We put some tips together to help make your appointment go more smoothly with less frowns and tears.
1) If they haven’t been professionally photographed before, have a family member or friend they don’t see often snap a few photos on a phone camera (with and without flash). This can help them get more use to a stranger trying to get their attention and take a photo along with possible flashing lights.
2) If you have a cake smash in mind, have your baby try some cake or cupcakes before the shoot. A lot of parents come in without their babies trying any cake or sweets. More often than not, if the cake smash is their first sweet or cake interaction they don’t know what to do with the cake and there is less “cake smashing” and eating.
3) Have your kids get a good night’s sleep. Tired kids make for grumpy and fussy pictures. If they take naps, try to schedule your appointment around nap times.
4) Make sure the kids eat before hand. Happy bellies make big, happy smiles. Bring along snacks and drinks for a quick snack break if needed.
5) Have the kids wear something comfortable. That doesn’t necessarily mean sweatpants and a t-shirt, but something that fits well, and isn’t tight, itchy, or distracting.
6) Bring their favorite toy or two and have their favorite music on hand to help bring out those smiles!

Does your little one have a quarantine birthday? It can still be a fun one! You can put up some special decorations, maybe even make their cake with them. Or try having a fun photo shoot! Do a mini DIY cake smash to really have some fun- just have some towels ready. We know you may be running on fumes as to how to keep those precious, little ones occupied, but know they love having you around. On the brighter side of things, you do get to see and spend more time with your kids and family. Enjoy it, it won’t last forever. As much as they may make you want to pull the hair out of your head and may barely give you time to work, those little smiles and laughs make everything worth it. So when you have the chance, play the game with them, tell the story to them, watch the movie with them, lay in bed and laugh with them, make breakfast with them. Don’t let quarantine ruin things; these are precious moments, don’t let them slip away.
